I decided to connect the 1st day of school and Back to School night into one post.
...I know it has taken me a while... but, hey I am a kinder teacher and am exhausted beyond words at the end of each school day! :O)

This is the first year that Back to School is very far into the school year. We started school on August 13th and Back to School night for Kinder was on September 24th. Over a month in... On the bright side it gave me plenty of time to over stress, make TONS of changes and crafts with my kiddos. :-)

So, here are some high lights of the first day of School in Mrs. Acosta's Kinder classroom 2013-2014.

My mom and I made "Magic Playdough" for my kiddos to have something to "play" with while I gave their parents a quick policy and behavior expectation speech. They all found a splash of color in their dough.
This packet was waiting for both parents and students (on their desks) when they walked in!

My kiddos all have a writing Journal and an "owl" early finishers folder.

These are my Homework/ Daily Communication Folders. Students get daily homework and all the important notes in here!

I also read "The Kissing Hand" for both the parents' sake and the kiddos. I asked the parents to give their kids a kissing hand and sent them on their merry way.
* It mostly worked, since I only had 2 criers as the parents left.

Once the parents were gone it was memory making time! I took their First Day of Kinder pics with the Kindergarten K.

We did a lot of other things, but this post is long enough... :O)

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT!!!!! September 24, 2013

So I greeted the parents with a "Thank you for 'popping' in" bag of microwaveable popcorn. It was such a looooong day, I figured they should walk away with something other than a headache after listening to me talk for about 45 minutes... :O)

I also had cookies by the Volunteer Sign Up!

The front of the room with some important things to share! Agenda, ELA and  Math program along with some useful tools we use in our class throughout the day.
This was waiting for the parents to take home... tons and tons of info!
The VERY cluttered Calendar and Big Question Board!

Sentence writing and first attempt at paper dolls.

Welcome sign by the Friend & Family Board.
Another overflowing board... I had tooooo many ideas and with Back To School being so late plenty of time to do them. :O)
My "Giving Tree" with pick able apples for donations and cute owls for fun. :O)

WOW!!! This post is soooo long! Sorry lovely people, but I hope you enjoyed it.
Many things I do in my room are inspired by all the blogs I follow.
I am creative, but why re-invent the wheel and that is why I share!

Owl Let you know what I do for October (one of my FAVORITE months!)

New classroom is finally ready for my kiddos!

My classroom is ready to start the 2013-2014 school year!
Let's take a look at all the work I have done so far...

This is what the classroom looked like when I first got my keys!

As you can see all my chairs and tables were all different... and my room is tiny! :(

That huge teacher desk has to go! I never sit anyways...

At least my cards are up and I have a nice rug.

The previous teacher left me some stuff on top of the closet! :)

As it turned out that boom box did not work... it died on the second day of school. :(

Process of making my room beautiful!

Sooo many things!!!! :)

What a mess...

Starting to look like a classroom! :)

This is what it looks like now!

This year as usual you will see my lovely owls, but I found the most adorable Boho birds and decided they were too cute to pass up. They make me happy!

Main door

Birthday board for my kiddos!

Writing board! We are working on a cute "Owl" about me to go in the pockets. :)

Showcasing the tree my mom made for my room and the Pom Poms for table colors that Vicki  made!
I have such wonderful helpers!!

Tree! A huge thank you to my mommy!!!

Calendar and "new" boom box!

My reading area / Library
...and that is an owl pinata!
My brother bought it for me. :)

Did I mention I LOVE Dr. Seuss books?!?!
My collection really needs to grow this year. :)

Behavior chart. I used it last year and I LOVE IT!

Kids baskets, Journals, and early finisher folders.

Our Mail boxes!

I know it does not look like I did too much, but along with on going projects that still need to be photographed I AM EXHAUSTED! :)
I LOVE my job!!!! ...decorating and crafting are pretty awesome.

My kiddos are loving our room. Even the boys like our Library with its pink rug. :)

New school, new school year!

After an amazing summer and my first trip to Europe (Scrapbook or post will be created soon! I promise...)

It is official! I will be teaching Kinder at Stagg Elementary this coming school year. I am very excited to start on this new journey. After being in so many schools and grade levels we will see how this adventure unfolds.

I was allowed to see my new classroom for the first time and this is what I found:

I have a small bungalow room and I will have 24 kiddos this school year... Tight, but definitely feasible!

I have to wait for the teacher that last occupied the room to finish moving out, but over all I feel ready to start. I get to officially start working on/in my room August 1st! I am SOOOO ready to really get in there. Can't wait to start decorating!!! :O)

Owl keep you posted on my progress,
Iliana

Owl Jewelry!

These are some of my earrings...
I like owls that sparkle, but sometimes I do like to be low key and wear the small ones. I like to wear jewelry that does not dangle very much and is not too eye catching or distracting. So far, I think I have about 14 pairs of "owl" earrings. Many came from former students and they are super cute!

I also have some necklaces...
I have 5 or so, but I only wear these 4. In terms of necklaces I like my pendants small and dainty.
My statement pieces are usually my earrings!

There you have it for my OWL jewelry.

"Owl" keep you posted,
Iliana
